Would you all believe that I came from the reddest of the red states - Oklahoma. My only living experiences are Oklahoma, and my current residence in another red state - Kansas. I find mid-westerners friendly for the most part - and much more sane on the highways than in Dallas. I remember a surprised look when I held the door for a few people there.

I found New Yorkers to be very friendly and helpful in the times I have been there. People on the subway more than happy to tell you what train to take to get to particular places, telling you where not to go, and for the most part being accepting of gawking tourists. One has to admit though, that holding a door for people in the city could have him standing there for hours.

Regards,

D-Ray

In fairness to us damned yankees we are more hospitable than we appear

Work hard and play hard. And very open. A fellow driver will be happy to tell you exactly what he thinks of you

Dang Caddy drivers. Wankers all Except Sandy lol.

Up here, I'm generally a courteous and careful driver! Down there, I was a raging madman.

I stopped at a gas station for some cigs and was happy to see only one person in line in front of me. Half an hour later...

Pete, I think Sandy's Mighty Valdez is a Lincoln, but you of all people should know best about that one. It could be me just being a dumb ol' Okie.

I believe it's a Ford Excursion, a V10 SUV that has its' own zip code

I know he's got a 70's Fleetwood that I covet mightily.

Is that an Okie from Phrenokie? (or something like that?)

Pete

His avatar over at AK shows what is clearly an early to mid-60s Lincoln, with the "suicide doors" in the back.

Pete, you shoulda caught that, Bro.

That's what I was thinking of. I had assumed that his avatar was the Mighty Valdez.

I think the Lincoln in his avitar may be on his wish list ( but he may have a different Lincoln stashed ). If I remember right, he has a Caddy, but the big V-10 Excursion is his daily driver. If Sandy is anything like me, he could have a yard-full. Til a few years ago, .. I kept 5-9 auto's most all the time & run 'em down the road one atta-time. Yearly tags are well under 30.00 .. and no wheel-tax or emissions testing. They went Zoom-Zoom.

Was so much fun while it lasted, but gas prices hit the roof and I don't own any oil wells.

I found out that here the emissions test is not needed if you are over 70 and drive less than 5000 miles each year, so the last one was my last one.

I understand milage but what the hell does the age of the driver have to do with it?

Damned if I know and as long as it save me two hours in line and $14.00 I really don't care.

It is the same thing with jury duty, after 70 you don't serve.
