What surge? I've always thought that such traitors should be dealt with harshly.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Tucker Carlson stirred controversy by broadcasting edited video that seemed to show that the Fyre Festival was a phenomenal success.

Introducing the footage, the Fox News host told his audience, “For years we’ve been told that the Fyre Festival was a fiasco of monumental proportions. The video you’re about to see tells a different story.”

The video that followed, which seemed crudely edited at times, appeared to show a gigantic, appreciative crowd cheering the performances of Beyoncé, Metallica, Paul McCartney, and Kanye West, among other artists.

Some viewers, however, questioned the authenticity of one section of the video, which showed a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Jimi Hendrix.

Carlson responded to those viewers on the air. “Some of you have asked, ‘Isn’t Jimi Hendrix dead?’ ” he said. “All I can say is that’s what certain people want you to believe.”

On the Fox/Dominion revelations:

This is one of the most extraordinary scandals to ever buffet a major American network. But it also points to an even bigger story: The right wing media’s long war on the truth. For decades, conservative media outlets have expressly sought to build and capture an audience that would accept only their version of events, and would be cordoned off to place them beyond the reach of mainstream news sources entirely.

“Right wing media have been engaged in a 70-year project to ensure that their audiences only trust conservative news outlets,” Nicole Hemmer, who tells this story in “Messengers of the Right,” her excellent history of conservative media, told me. “They’ve worked to discredit other sources of more-objective information, so that their audiences are unwilling to trust outlets more rooted in reality.”

And you wonder how someone like Whell could be wrong about pretty much everything.

Oh, you were an example right there, but you aren't the surge. The point in the Atlantic piece is that the 'surge' is general in our increasingly decivilized civilization.

Tucker Carlson 14 years ago: "In the absence of any universally recognized standard or source of news, what happens?....All sorts of crazy conspiracy theories bloom and take the place of facts."

Not only have these revelations gravely hurt Fox in the Dominion case, now a 5-judge panel in NY has permitted Smartmatic to go forward with its $2.7 billion lawsuit against Fox and several of its corporate liars.

Fox News lost its appeal of Smartmatic’s $2.7 billion lawsuit for broadcasting conspiracy theories about voting machines in the 2020 presidential election.

An intermediate appellate court in New York also revived claims against former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Fox personality Jeanine Pirro.

A five-judge panel unanimously found that Smartmatic adequately alleged that Fox News, Giuliani, Pirro and Maria Bartiromo either knew that the voting machine conspiracy theories were false — or had serious doubts about their veracity — when they aired.

More fun to come.

ROFL. Pretty much destroys the Faux “News” narrative, and exposes the idiocy of its loyal viewers. Whell’s World.
