I can't speak for anybody else of course, but you already know that nothing you say gets an automatic pass from me.

Who else would I have been asking?

Was having your funnybone removed painful?

I think you must really know that my beef isn't with the Jewish religion or Jews. It's with the Jewish government and various movements within Israel I have a problem with.

If I were to make any of the same criticisms against the US government, and I have, or with some of the social and political movements here, and I have, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have the slightest problem with it.

I suppose it's really a question of whose sacred cow is being gored.

Battlefield Earth was a pretty good read, The Fountainhead not so much.

If a kid shoots a kid - whose fault is that? The answer "The parents" is too simple.

Too true. It's a societal and a political problem. Sadly, we have a political party here that is apparently insane.

This issue will drive Obama crazy pretty soon - I can feel it. Poor man. I still love America, but I fear that all this gunshit will drive me crazy pretty soon as well...

You're right, Chris, but the parents, who in this instance had a loaded shotgun lying around their home, bear the sole immediate responsibility. That they saw nothing wrong with doing so, or even thought it was a good idea, is a cultural problem that seems immune to solution at this point.

Freudian slips can be fun!

You're right. The visible anger and frustration he displayed during his recent press conference spoke volumes.

It now appears that he may take some steps to ameliorate the situation through the much maligned "Executive Action". I don't see it having any lasting effects, though, if he is succeeded by a Republican. Whatever he does will be undone in the first weeks of the new president's term. Public outcry, if it occurs, won't change that. The public doesn't matter to the Republicans.
