Of course Don but we don't live in that universe, do we? The one where the police have the tools to handle such people who should be under a psychiatrists care in a facility. (Thank St. Ronnie for that bit of social engineering).
TJs example fell flat on it's face because the crazy dead guy pulled a deadly weapon on the police. Finn just beat the post I was composing by mere seconds, which is why I didn't bother posting it.
Like I said earlier in this thread, the truth will out and the DOJ is investigating. Furthermore, this thread has turned into a screaming match between different factions painting themselves into corners without exits and I for one am done with it until the FBI makes their findings.

+6 - Tom
Sounds like any old excuse will do, including simply giving a cop a sideways glance.
Letha force as a first resort by the nations police forces. Proof positive they ain't there for our protection, in fact one would be wize to go completely out of their way to avoid being near a cop. They are nothing but roving thugs.

We all are not blaming authority. Actually nobody is blaming authority. Some of us are saying it's the copper's fault. Some of us are saying it's the kid's fault. Some of us are saying lets wait and see what examination of the whole incident tell us.
Read all the posts. Fucking cretin.

Did anyone in PC actually come out and wish the Feds would open fire on any group of people, armed or unarmed?

Just in case it hasn't occurred to you, I could give a big shit (not in anyone's hat, that is so played) whether you approve of my response or not. Especially given that you have a habit of summarily dismissing not only dissenting opinions, but even corroborated facts and figures, if they don't line up with your view.
If your Dad was able to mold you into a good citizen who respects others and is smart enough not to get shot by a cop, without having to beat your ass now and again, well good for him. My Dad, and many like him, weren't so lucky. I was a little punk who needed more than words of wisdom and grounding. He tried that route often, but I was like Charlie Brown when he spoke. All I heard was "Wot, wot wot wot waaa!" It took some physical pain to get my attention, but I did eventually learn.
|
And you're asking me if I'm alright? BWAHAH! What I have always found really sad is you guys who find it more painful to admit there was something wrong with Daddy than to blame yourselves for the physical abuse you took.
Will: He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the kitchen table and say, "Choose."
Sean: Well, I gotta go with the belt there.
Will: I used to go with the wrench.
Sean: Why?
Will: Cause fuck him, that' why.

Maybe I missed a post in between, but I'm not getting your point.

What I find really sad is that only about 5 hours ago, in this very thread (post #203) you are admonishing TJ for "stuffing your words into somebody else's mouth", yet here you are deciding I was physically abused by a sick father.
My wife could tell you what abusive parents are like- broken bones, swung around by your hair and tossed into walls, left alone at home (usually a ratty motel room) for days, etc. I have no idea. My parents were loving, caring, nurturing people who did it right.
Not that I care what you think.

Look...you were the one who came out here challenging TJ's depiction of some sick old man who would drag his kid out back and beat his ass so bad he couldn't sit down for a week. And now you're pissing and moaning about getting an argument about it. Tough shit...you dealt this hand, play it...you bought the ticket, take the ride without whining about it for christ's sake.
The amazing thing about all this is that in this thread, for the first time in history, you and I are pretty much on the same side of an argument...save your screwy parenting model. He who paid attention to his old man, or his older neighborhood mentor guy and don't act like a fucking idiot with the police will have a significantly better chance of survival, regardless of his color. If the kid had been tazed and beaten within an inch of his life for jumping a cop, we'd still have every neighborhood political group in Ferguson screaming bloody murder, and half this forum bleating about how we've become a police state.

Oh I see, you took the "couldn't sit down for a week" literally.
I took that as an exaggeration, given that it was a common threatening parental phrase back in the day. I knew some kids that got beat pretty bad. I'd consider some of it abuse. But I never seen anyone beat so bad they literally couldn't sit down for a week.
Hell, I fell out of a truck once at highway speed and it took all the skin off my ass on one side. I was still able to sit on it after about 4 days, so not sure what kind of a belt or switch you'd have to use to actually achieve the kind of damage you are thinking about.
