Been out in the shop listening to the sound of power tools.
Working on a subwoofer project, involving the 15" Dayton Titanic III driver w/500 watt amp. Found a Velodyne F-1500 cabinet, sans the driver and amp for $9 at a local thrift. Got the amp & sub from PE at Christmas sale prices and free shipping, saved nearly $400 on the package deal.
I'm having to modify the cabinet slightly to make the driver fit. The hole was about a 1/4" too small. Also going to have to put the amp in a separate box as I will need all 3.6 cu. ft. of this box for this driver. No biggie.
Think I'll knock off for the night though. It's getting late and I want to head down to Yukon lumber in the morning. See what they have on sale that I can build this box with.

it sounds ok...a bit harsh on high ends ...I will buy some nos tubes soon too..some

once I get the power supply caps changed I will run it regularly...it does not sound as nice as my Jolida 102b but of course that could be my fault....
You were a big help showing me how to get rid of the balance pot and clone the channels....thanks!

Here's a schematic of the power supply with a note on it about that electrolytic in question, the 30 uf one. This change to 100uf-200uf will help make it sound better. I wouldn't bother trying to source the cans, just install the new ones to a tag strip underneath. You can leave the cans in place for that nostalgia look. BTW use the 30uf value for the first 'lytic from the rectifier tubes and leading to the choke. Don't change that value or you risk frying your rectifier tubes. I'm assuming that each can has a 30uf and 10uf inside?
Here's a pic of my 175 ff.

Yes Bob both cans have a 30uf and a 10uf...I just got my caps today...so I will start this weekend. So basically a 100uf cap 500vdc for the can cap not connected to the rectifier tubes? Ok I will try that later on...so basically connect the the postive 30uf and 10uf to the correct wires and then connect both the negative leads together to chassis ground? I have some terminal strips so that should be an easy job....
then it is maggie time...I do not have the death caps yet..but I figure new coupling caps and new power supply caps should make things a bit safer lol....
thanks Bob!

Sounds right, Robbin.
Catching Diana Krall on Colbert right now (on DVR) Not shabby at all. Rag Doll followed by Have Yourself Self a Merry Little Christmas with a couple of surprise back up singers.
