This is what it's come to.

This is not checks and balance. This is extortion by a reckless minority and one member of the congress albeit it's misguided leader holding up a vote.

For a system of checks and balances to work, both houses needs to vote and then the president signs or vetoes. A veto then can be overturned. If the republicans really believe in democracy, how come they don't have the guts to have a vote in the house? They would lose and everyone knows it. So it's stupidity and cowardice at work here.

It's politics.

It stinks, but that's what is it.

Ain't too much sense in getting bent out of shape about it. Kinda like hating August for being hot, or January for being cold.

It's the nature of things.

Except 'politics as usual' doesn't carry this level of risk. There's a qualitative difference here.

Politics as usual will ultimately win out. Actually, right now, it's looking rather desirable.

It's worse than just FHA loans according to this article, Barney.

Republicans hurting the economy on purpose? ON PURPOSE!
tell me when that has happened in our lifetimes....

I do not mean the usual bs about policy....I mean acting in a way in which a negative outcome is known to be the result.

If this is politics, you may also want to believe that a few Al-Qaeda guys were playing a game of DARE on 9/11.

Germany's influential newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung bemoaned the U.S. political chaos.

"At the moment, Washington is fighting over the budget and nobody knows if the country will still be solvent in three weeks. What is clear, though, is that America is already politically bankrupt," it said.
