Killings just started in the 60's you know, after AR-15's.

Actually its morons that shoot guns for fun. Any intelligence or talent needed to fire a gun into some dirt? No.

Maybe they should be called "insult weapons"? Seems to fit the intent of the symbology, "fuck your feelings".

You people keep saying the same shit over and over...so we have all had the opportunity to listen to you carp about the mentallly ill. So...lets have it. Who's mentally ill enough to disqualify themselves from firearms ownership even though they have never broken any law? The psychopathological? The sociopathological? The psychotic? The delusional? Those with dementia. The clinically depressed? Those with clinical anxiety? The bipolar? The narcissistic? The anti-social? The histrionic? THE FUCKING HOPELESSLY NEUROTIC??? And...whos gonna assess/evaluate those who want guns? Mental health professionals that ignoramuses like you approve of? Somebody like me who was run off an alt-right forum because I had the audacity to tell the anti-LGBTQ bigots that minor children age 12 years and older have counseling and mental health confidentiality rights and who can refuse to disclose the content of their gender-affirming therapy to their hateful, shaming, bigot parents.
You want somebody like me, a licensed mental health professional who's services are paid for by the health insurance industry and by medicare, telling you that you're too fucked up to get a gun license?
And mentally ill? What about in juridictions in some red states where the legally blind cannot be denied a gun permit? THE LEGALLY FUCKING BLIND!!!
Come on ZJ...let's have your plan for taking firearms out of the hands of the law abiding mentally ill. I can't fucking wait.

Ike, I do not always like the way you deliver your posts, with your raw truth and blunt message because it is sometimes a bit too caustic for me. But, the post above was simply great! Those are the words I could never articulate when trying to respond to people who want to blame all gun violence on mental illness.

Awww shucks barbara. I guess I'm just lucky to have ended up a woman who is maybe a worse potty mouth than I am, and also a mental health professional. When people ask what it's like having spent over 50 years with another head shrinker...we tell them about our typical morning greeting to each other.
Ike: Hey g'morning babe.
The Blonde: WTF do you mean by that?
Lyric from one of my favorite recording artists Dave Edmunds, "Standing at the crossroads, again"
I guess I'm not the man she was looking for
I'm just the man she found.
Anyway...this stuff about "mental health" from the right is just a tangential purposeful distraction. There are just as many people per capita with legitimate mental health problems in the UK as in the USA. And yet, somehow, our firearms homicide rate is 40 times the rate in the UK. The difference is...withing a year of the first mass school shooting in the UK, the Dunblane Massacre, the Brits had a national law making possession of pistols, magazine loaded long guns, and of course assault weapons illegal. They can still get their long barreled hunting rifles and shotguns, it's arduous and expensive but they can get licenses. But no more pistols or semi-automatic weapons. And no more democratized gun carnage like we have.

Actually I take some pride in what I accomplished in the short period of my life when I handled and operated a weapon of war. Early summer 1969, I was in the middle of 8 weeks of Marine Corps basic training, two weeks at Camp Pendleton for rifle training and qualifying. A Daisy BB gun was the only "firearm" I had ever laid hands on in my life.
Turns out I was pretty good at it...qualified Expert. And, on qualification day two of us in my platoon scored 100%, all 10 rounds, in the silhouette bullseye from 500 yards prone position. M-14, 7.62mm, with a crummy little peep sight. That evening two of our DI''s took me and Pvt. "Snowball" (one of the black recruits) aside and the bigger one, the really sadisitic one, in his most gentle voice said, "Do you two assholes know what it means to shoot 100% from 500 yards?"
"Sir...no sir!"
"It means you could qualify for Marine Scout Sniper training."
When I decined the offer I was beaten. I never fired a weapon again. I never touched any firearms again in my life after being honorably discharged.

Great story and Nailer on this forum is also a sharpshooter.
I was commenting on Zero playing Rambo in his Deliverance yard.

Little in the way of arguments will change any mind already thinking an assault rifle is the same as a knife, a revolver or pistol, baseball bat, shot gun. Bolt, lever, pump rifles.
A potential capacity of thirty, even hundred rounds of high power ammo designed to inflict maxim harm. Easy to reload and shoot. Cheap and available with little restrictions.
Weapon of choice for the would be mass shooter.

Knowing that I'm more skilled (and officially skilled) with weapons of war than the braindead bungalow bills and 2nd Amendment flag wavers that I have run into on these forums...is a source significant enjoyment and comfort for me. And significantly annoying for the gunners.
