Oy vey! Yitzhak telling Steven not to touch his Stradivarius was good for a chuckle  I just sat there marveling at it. Unbelievable sound even through the HT set up that I cobbled together. Marantz 4.1 with four of those original smaller Advent speaks. Re foamed and recapped by yours truly. Very nice low freq. response in a small sealed acoustic suspension bookshelf package, so no sub woof needed.
The wood for those instruments was grown during the Maunder Minimum,IIRC, the mini iceage that caused the slow super dense growth of woods used by Stradivari. Also north facing slopes in the alps contributed. Some experts say that was one of the reasons they sound so sweet and have stood up so well for centuries. The finish that he came up with is a another trippy thing. I've heard he used honey bee propolis as a resin compound along with shellac resin in the finish.
