After Biden's disastrous showing at their first debate, Trump was licking his chops and hoping to land a sucker punch. Now he is livid and claiming that Harris about to be nominated is undemocratic, a world he is allergic to.

I was very angry at Biden for declaring his candidacy for a second term and even more when he continued to stay in the race. All that is now forgiven and have even more respect for this man, whom I had wrote in for President in 2016.
Here is an excerpt from his news conference today.
Quote:
“The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, woulda been down to the wire. But what happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was gonna hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic.
“You’d be interviewing me about why did NANCY PELOSI say, why did so— and— and I thought it’d be a real distraction, number one.
“Number two, when I ran the first time, I thought of myself as being a transition president. I can’t even say how old I am. It’s hard for me to get it outta my mouth. And— but things got movin’ so quickly, it — didn’t happen. And the combination was that I thought it — is the critical issue for me still, it’s not a joke, maintaining this democracy.
“But I thought it was important, because, although I — it’s a great honor being president, I think I have an obligation to the country to do what I — the most important thing you can do — and that is, we must — we must — we must defeat Trump.”

Once again proves that he will always be a class act and will put country before party or his ego.
Thank you President Biden.

A part of me would like to believe he played the maga cult like a fiddle. That it was his plan to not run and not wanting to bloody up the field in a primary.
With the intention of handing of to Harris after the maga dog and pony show stealing all of their bump. Wasting all of their donations and plans in the process.
Well that is what I tell the maga cult anyway to get their heads spinning and blood pressure up.

Gee, I don't see where you got that ... most of it sounds like self-serving rationalization to me. And (paraphrasing) "I didn't mean to run for a second term, but things happened so fast that before I knew it, I was out on the campaign trail again!" Are you kidding me?

His Democratic colleagues losing their races, being asked about what Nancy Pelosi told him and more importantly defeating Trump being the most important task on hand are honest admissions from a politician.
He is still a good guy, was always a good guy, perhaps not as slick as Clinton or smart as Obama, but has spent his entire career in public service. He was a very popular and effective Senator and was a key member in the Obama administration dealing with Congress. He was instrumental in the passage of Obamacare.

Above all, he saved the country from a second Trump term.

AND he had an outstanding first term, working with his people in Congress to always outfox the MAGA obstructers, averting the attempted shutdowns and instead getting landmark legislation passed. He had a record that, with the strong economy, should have rightfully earned him a second term. That sense, on his part, may be part of why he ran, and I opposed his stepping down. I figured Biden at 1/2 effective was miles better than Trump. But circumstances were unusual, and the swing to Harris has been tremendous, better than Biden continuing.
