Local farmers are concerned for the apple trees that were weeks ahead of production. Not to mention grape vines. And so it goes....
And that's the danger. Crops produce too early then another frost comes along and destroys it.

I do like the fact that my Jasmine has started blooming already. It's a wonderful thing to be greeted with as I step onto the porch every day. Last night I went for a walk and caught the fragrance of wild Wisteria in bloom....Magnificent!

I have Chinese White Wisteria, it won't bloom until early May at least, but it's fragrance is out of this world.

Then in July/August my Gardenia and Ligustrum starts flowering............

Today if weather permits I will unwrap the 28 Norway Spruce we planted over tha last two years. I have to wrap them with plastic fencing come October else the white tail lawn rats will destroy them with their horns. They should be big enough in a couple of years that wrapping should no longer be necessary.

I waited to mow mine but still have to do it three times so far this year.

On the deer problem, I have failed to figure out how to keep them out of my garden. At least they don't eat the Asparagus.

I understand the latest nuisance is feral hogs. We don't have them around here yet, but in southern Missouri I believe the MDC will let you shoot them on sight. Actually, I think they WANT you to shoot them on sight, no season, and no hunting permit required.

If the MDC doesn't even want to regulate them or make a buck off of them, they must be bad news.

Planted patches at the last two homes I've lived at. Simple to do just will take at least a couple of years to really get going. Nothing like a meal with some fresh cut then breading them up and frying like you would onion rings.

Never had them that way. I'll have to try it.
