I truly doubt NI is being paid. However I do recall that he was paid for an entire year just to look over his coworker's shoulder, who spent his workday on FB.
BTW, has anyone figured out what "left-leaning (pro-degeneracy) group of Civic-Nationalist types" means?

Two years. But only while walking by his desk.
And I give you kudos for remembering that.
BTW, at the turn of the century I was working on a contract at boeing and there was a row of people along a short wall where, as you walked by their row of desks (about 8 guys), you could see what was on their monitor. Their monitors faced the hall at a 45 degree angle so they were easy to see. I only occasionally had need to walk down that aisle, but when I did, over half of them were always on ESPN.com. It was pretty funny to me because I've never cared about sports other than to play them.
And in the mid-90's I was walking by a woman's cube at Nordstrom (I was an actual employee there in IT) and she was really quick to close solitaire, but the image only needs to be seen by a human for the tiniest fraction of a second for one to know what they've seen. I told her not to worry because I wasn't a manager. My old manager at T-Mobile IT used to play solitaire during meetings. She had no problem with it because if she really multi-tasked, it was hard to follow the meetings. In my case, I only need to hear my name and it's time to "spring into action".
I'll also be retiring VERY soon. At the very latest it will be when WFH ends. I'm done with that 3 hour commute and the extra $800 a month it was costing me to drive to work and park my car and pay Louisville income tax. WFH and the virus was a financial windfall for me. As well as a time windfall.

Having black people in your family, or being black yourself, does not cancel out your racism, if you have it. This is a case of an organization having one 'in the family.'

All humans are racist to one degree or another. They are also ageist, sexist, classist, etc.
I sold hi-fi in the mid-70's and early 80's. I won every sales contest except the one that was half over when I first started - and I almost won that one. One of my secrets was to "tentatively" stereotype people, and then adjust according to their responses. This was based on all of the attributes above as well as attire, body movements, etc.
My wife can tell, when listening to me talking on the phone, whether I'm talking to a male or female.
The races are not just cosmetically different. They are different in their makeup to the core, at least to some degree. Of course, culture molds it much further.
But to quote Jesse Jackson: "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then (I) look around and see someone white and feel relieved."
Discussed effectively here.

A white man married to a black woman may, in the heat of an argument, call her the "N" word. It doesn't mean he's racist. It means he's trying to hurt her, which is what people often try to do during verbal fights.

That may very well be what the author was doing, though not what the phrase may mean.

DNA would appear to argue otherwise.
