I was a wee lad in 72 but I remember all the damage caused by Agnes. We lived right by Blair highschool and Sligo park flooded badly every footbridge was mangled.

Brian said the storm was pretty tame in West Palm Beach and he and the girls are just fine.

Small world, man. Former denizen of the Peoples Republic of Takoma Park here.

I remember Sligo Creek Parkway being closed for months afterwards.

Indeed! as a youth I spent alot of time at the park as it was literally my back yard. had lots of fun playing in the creek and riding our bikes there. even found Morel mushrooms under the trees. on the other side of the parkway there are a bunch of apartments or now condos? anyway my grandmother always warned us to stay away from that area, calling it the league of nations, perhaps my first exposure to racism...

And I used to live a mile or two up Piney Branch Parkway from Tacoma Park while I was at the U of Md.

As for Agnes, My ex-wife gave me the boot the day before Agnes hit. I didn't even know about how bad it was until I arrived in Colorado 2 days later high and dry.
