The Secret Service has nixed the idea of allowing guns at the GOP convention.

The secret service did not have too. The fact that the arena is privately owned and the owners said no would have kaboshed people from entering with lead spitters. At least that is my understanding.

I am pro right to own guns, but no way in hell would I have gone to that with all those people caring guns. It would have been a shoot out for sure.

The arena owners could have succumbed to outside pressure and relented on their no-guns policy. Now they can't.
