Did you even read don's post? You're not contagious if you don't have symptoms. Nobody can be quarantined or detained or otherwise locked up without due process unless they're contagious. Nobody's contagious without symptoms. You people are all for inalienable rights. Sure you are...unless you're ignorant or scared.

It's also why we have a Ferguson, MO. It's also why we have democratized gun carnage in our schools. Ignorance and fear.

Her temperature of 99.5 was actually below the CDC guideline from what I've read. Also, she displayed no other symptoms (nausea etc.) during the flights to and from Ohio.

Another thing that people might read is the page I linked to before, the CDC discussion of Isolation and Quarantine. Here's the first paragraph from it, with a little emphasis added....

Quote:
Isolation and quarantine help protect the public by preventing exposure to people who have or may have a contagious disease.

Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.

Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.

In addition to serving as medical functions, isolation and quarantine also are “police power” functions, derived from the right of the state to take action affecting individuals for the benefit of society.

And only .6 below Thomas Duncan 100.1 temperature when he went to the hospital the first time. Duncan's temperature at that time was even below the CDC guideline... Lessons learned?

As for the Nurse she called and spoke to the CDC prior to boarding the plane and told them, who she was and what her temperature was (ding, ding, ding), She called not once but several times and every time it was the same, Sure you can fly, climb aboard. And as a side note it has been reported that she even had to cancel a get together with her bridesmaids because of being sick while she was in town.

IMHO, knowing that she worked on Duncan and was running a fever and attempting to board a plane... I would of denied the request if I worked at the CDC no matter what the guideline was. Just as I'm sure you would off done Bob!

Hindsight being 20/200. Ol' Dirty Dem Bob would've dropped a neutron bomb on Dallas followed up by a whole lot of napalm.

I was channel surfing the Lamestream News for all of 15 minutes and couldn't believe the 'hair on fire' wall to wall coverage of this tiny cluster of Ebola in the states, proving the old adage, 'if it bleeds, it leads'. All of the douchebag corporate networks are in full blown freak out mode.

PBS News Hour was the only one not losing their minds over this.

99.5!

That isn't even a fever.

Shit we used to see Malaria patients spike to 105 all the time when I was a medic in Vietnam. Now that's a fever.

America's freak out over Ebola.

Idjits.

BTW, get a grip, get up off the couch and get your flu shot. The last thing we need are garden variety flu patients flooding every emergency room this flu season thinking they might have Ebola.
