I have to think that Trump's candidacy is a cynical satire of American democracy. The 'otherwise' is that a significant precentage of Americans are gulllible idiots.

I can tell you that the entire Western world does not take the United States seriously anymore.
Yesterday I watched a Trump speech (Kansas?) and there was also a pastor who was praising him - I thought that this trained little monkey was actually praising the Lord... however - I have to confess that Trump is pretty entertaining. 30 years ago he would have been a great part of Kermit's crew.
The tragical point is, and many have menitioned it before, like Pio did, that such a big number of adults (???) are pining for a CARTOON CHARACTER as president of the United States of America.

Trump is getting support from the reliable but disgruntled GOP supporters and is really an anti-establishment vote. Trump supporters have not processed or capable of processing whether Trump can even govern or qualified.

On each Guinness bottle you can read: "Drink with responsibility!" I wish the Americans would be ready to vote with responsibility, no matter if they are d'accord with the political establishment in Washington or not. And I wish Frank Zappa could see this tragical comedy.

Trump will probably not get a higher percentage of votes in the general election than your barking monster got in the last free election before he seized power. From the same sort of people, of course. Our authoritarians are fairly concentrated in the Republican party.

A cartoon character could be as dangerous as the Barking Monster, if the cartoon character gets the sufficient power. As I already mentioned in this forum, the correspondent Linda Crane is totally convinced that the evil clown will not succeed and this is in a way comforting.

But, if some idiot like Bloomberg decides to run as a third party candidate, a "Hitler margin" could be enough.
Especially is Clinton is the Democratic nominee.

Agree, all bets are off in a three-way.

Chris, the scenario I alluded to above has a very good chance of creating a Trump presidency.
Trump is a candidate that very many voters are excited about. This is far from true of Hillary. Her support may (or may not) be broader than Trump's but it isn't as deep. It isn't deep at all so, given a non-Trump alternative like Bloomberg, many of her supporters can be expected to jump ship. On the other hand, since Bloomberg wants REALLY strict gun controls and even rules about how big a Coke you can buy, no Trump supporter would dream of supporting him over Trump. For that matter, few if any mainstream Republicans would either.
So, you have a Republican with a rabid following and a Democrat with a rather unenthusiastic one. So, a Bloomberg candidacy would draw supporters almost exclusively from Hillary. That could easily give Trump the win.

This is a pretty scary scenery. America is a part of the so called "global village", so this blue marble really needs reasonable politicians and not insane egocentrics like Trump or mental ruins like that crazy guy in North Korea...
