Mike like everyone else on the right you talk about taxes. How come every other industrialized nation is able to implement universal healthcare in an affordable manner. Is it that they are so much smarter than Americans. Or are we so damn supid and incompetent that we can't quite seem to get the hang of it. It has to be one or the other. Because I have been in many of those 'other' countries and they all seem quite happy with their systems.

I have already covered the tax situation in case you missed it, my total tax on an equivalent income was within $50 a year both in Ontario and Maryland.

I pay a shitload of money to Blue Cross/Blue Shield every year.

I would much rather pay that to the Government in taxes and get my Healthcare from them. From what I see in examples all over the world, I'd get a much better deal.

Healthcare you CAN'T lose is always better than the shit that keeps you strapped to the plow until you drop to pay for it. The fact that so many Americans see healthcare coverage as something that must be earned, like it's a luxury, is just sickening.

Paying taxes to government bad.

Paying fees to private entities good.

Why? Because that's what we* think.

You don't think that? Just shows you're not one of us*.

Here is my simple answer Rob. In the US, healthcare is a for profit business. In the rest of the industrialized countries, it is a system based on shared costs.

When it came down that our healthcare system would be:

1. For profit.
2. Tied to employment.

That was it for ever having a decent healthcare system that would serve every person in this country regardless of their place in the culture.

When it's all sorted out, nothing matters in this country quite as much as profits. Profits and jobs. We'll poison the water, the air, and the food we eat so that some politician can say he/she created a job. And the gullible, self-absorbed electorate buys it every time.

It's not that bad, is it?

You really have to ask me this question Chas? OK...nuance or whatever is not your strong suit. So I will help you out to the best of my ability. Chas...it's bad. It's the reason why our healthcare system costs nearly twice the percentage of GDP as the next most expensive Euro/Canadian system. And...it's the reason why, of the 40 most developed and wealthiest nations on earth this country is:

1. 37th in life expectancy.
2. 40th in infant mortality.

Not bad for twice the money, eh Chas? Yes or no?

But now I'll ask you. You think it's good to have a for profit, employment linked healthcare system? And since I've cooperated in my at bat in this silly fucking game I'm expect more than "yes" outta you...Chas.

Unless you're talking about our poisoned air, poisoned water, and poisoned food not being that bad...in which case, I won't be playing with you anymore. In this discussion anyway.

I'd like to see how much medical we export. Include equipment and of course the training as that contributes to our economy.

I bet it's a lot.

We're a LOT cleaner than we used to be btw.
