I will never have the money to buy a new car, and I don´t even want to. But that looks pretty cool; kind of retro. Like an old, practical pickup.

Bye-bye, Cyborg truck! This thing looks quite sensible. Not for me, but for a lot of folks. It does need more range, but with the dramatic improvements in battery tech, it should get there in 5-10 years.

I read elsewhere that it is so bare bones that it has no entertainment system and other such features. It said that if you wanted to play tunes, you'd have to bring your phone and a Bluetooth speaker. I like vehicles without too many bells & whistles, but I sure do like Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto) and consider it essential.

I met a woman, an AK member for a trade who had custom installed an iPad on her dashboard and used it for navigation and streaming!!! Believe it was a Subaru Forester.
I recently bought a used 2015 Kia Sedona which does not have CarPlay which is also a must for me and thinking of doing the same, but a drop in Alpine is just under $300.00.

"Bring the apps you know and love to create the experience you want. Instead of a bulky, distracting, and quickly outdated infotainment system, a Slate can come with something simpler: a smartly designed mount that fits a phone or tablet and a holder for a portable Bluetooth speaker. Your Slate will age gracefully, because it’ll always have the latest tech—yours."

About six months ago the factory radio went out in my truck. In all of my years never had a OEM radio go bad. Replacing it with same or new head unit and speakers ran about the same price. Over a thousand closer to fifteen hundred installed.
Not really wanting a OEM again and hating the aftermarket units distracting operations. Especially after driving a rental with one of the latest generation of media players. Where changing radio station or answering a call required some thought.....
Have gone these past months with silence in the truck. Funny miss the backup camera or phone use it seems more now then the loss of tunes. Will more then likely be getting the Alpine and new speakers now the weather is warmer allowing the plastic to be removed without snapping.
No hurry getting use to it anyway.

My present car is my first car that even has a radio.
I NEVER listen to radio, so I removed the antenna.
I tried, for the very first time in my life, listening to music from an USB stick while driving, and I didn´t like it. I found it too distracting. I want to hear the sounds of driving, and my motor, which is very quiet.
That, alone, is very important to me, since I drive a manual transmission.

A somewhat silly argument IMO. CarPlay remains as up-to-date as any other app on you iPhone and a good set of car speakers beats the shit out of a small Bluetooth speaker. That said, I hope it's a raging success that further undermines Tesla.

Tesla Board looks to replace Elon Musk.
[QUOTE]The Tesla board has reportedly started a search for a new CEO and informed Elon Musk that he needs spend more time at the company. The search for Musk’s replacement has been going on for about a month, according to the Wall Street Journal. Musk, per the Journal’s reporting, has not resisted his board in this matter./QUOTE]
The link is an interesting article about who is on the current board and why it took them this long to make this decision. I personally think this is too late. Tesla has no new models to compete with the likes of Kia, BMW and GM who are now leading the charge with the EV revolution. They have lost a lot of customers and as the article indicates, if their customers do come back, it will be five years or more later and certainly not for the shitty cars they are building. And the Cybertruck cost them around $900 Million to launch and that money and the assembly line to build it in has been lost.

Tesla troubles: European business is getting worse as sales slump in April
Despite the new Model Y, Tesla sales are evaporating as competition heats up and CEO Elon Musk's favorability drops.

Appears that being a complete asshat isn't good for business, huh Elon?
