Astral Weeks and Tupelo Honey are probably my two favorite VM albums, as different as they are, though Moondance, St. Dominic's Preview and Verdon Fleece come in very close behind.
If you can't find Astral Weeks, Verdon Fleece is stylistically similar and also very good though not quite the acknowledged masterpiece of Astral Weeks.

you know Finny I have had Veedon Fleece on cd since 1987...just cannot get into for some reason....I really love the live Astral Weeks from the Hollywood Bowl and most of his other work. I saw him in 1992 at the Berkeley Community Theater (the high school) when I was stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln in Alameda CA....he showed up EARLY and started the concert with about only a third of the seats filled lol...always be on time for a Van concert..

At the risks of being considered somewhat short of cool , I have always preferred his more "normal" albums like Tupelo Honey and Moondance to Astral Weeks (though I still like it). The styles are completely different and I prefer the more romantic, approachable style of TH and MD.
