As we have seen some on the SC can have variable interpretations of the Constitution. I won't be surprised to see some blather of "protections of the office". The rock and hard place will be trying to exclude Biden from such protections from prosecution for "imagined offenses" before he got into office with the justification for prosecuting him for said "imagined offenses", that occured before he got into office.

Whether the president has absolute unaccountable authority is the core question.
The real issue should be reviewing the powers vs the accountability of a rogue presidency declaring themselves exempt from Constitutional law the forefathers feared a potential flaw in a democracy making such a choice.
"A republic, if you can keep it". We see plainly there are those who would prefer dominance of power by autocratic control to the rule of constitutional law by cancelling its constraints.

The president does not have "absolute unaccountable authority". However, the Consitution specifies the process by which a sitting president can be held to account for acts committed while in office: Impeachment.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments whether they should make a quick ruling on this, not to rule on the actual appeal itself which will bypass the appellate process if they actually decide on this. I just do not see how the Supreme Court wriggles out of this one, in effect letting an multi indicted felon run for the highest office, especially since his coup was in public. We already know how Alioto and Thomas will vote, so its up to the remaining five. They have short circuited the appeals process before, so nowhere to hide.

Though I am not a fan of CNN (or any TV based journalism), this is well worth reading imo. TV journalism to me is pictures and drama, nothing more.

Not that I recall. However, you sound like you might have some personal experience with this.

The MAGA House is finally moving towards a formal vote on a Biden impeachment inquiry, could be as soon as tomorrow. Two years ago, Trump was asking Ukraine to throw dirt at Biden and failed. Now he is asking the Repugnant House, would he fail again?

Wonder if they will have the votes though Trump is forcing their hand.
