Blacks are also disproportionately pulled over by police in Ferguson. Whites make up about a third of Ferguson's population but accounted for just 12.7 percent of the stops by Ferguson police. Last year, African-Americans made up 93 percent of the arrests following car stops, even though whites were more likely to have contraband."

Looks like Reverend Sharpton is there to help calm the waters.

From my distant experience with Chicago coppers...I'm a 16 year old kid and pull what this kid pulled...if I'm lucky I get beaten within an inch of my life with a nightstick, or several nightsticks if there are other coppers on the scene. If I'm not so lucky, I get shot. If I have no luck at all I get shot to death, and a drop piece is found next to my body. It's what we expected would happen back in those days for laying hands on a cop.

The kid was unarmed, shoved the cop, didn't have a blade, didn't stab the cop, didn't have a gun, wasn't able to disarm the cop. I don't see the necessity of gunning him down...so I don't see it as a good shoot. Maybe I/A will find it to be a good shoot, maybe not.

But it makes me no less a stupid motherfucker for putting my life at risk by laying hands on a cop.

Between you and me Bob, unless and until Al Sharpton makes some amends to those who he defamed in the Tawana Brawley fiasco, he would be well advised to keep his nose out of anything to do with any law enforcement incident.

Tawana Brawley controversy

Main article: Tawana Brawley rape allegations

"On November 28, 1987, Tawana Brawley, a 15-year-old African-American girl, was found smeared with feces, lying in a garbage bag, her clothing torn and burned and with various slurs and epithets written on her body in charcoal. Brawley claimed she had been assaulted and raped by six white men, some of them police officers, in the town of Wappinger, New York.
Attorneys Alton H. Maddox and C. Vernon Mason joined Sharpton in support of Brawley. A grand jury was convened; after seven months of examining police and medical records, the jury found "overwhelming evidence" that Brawley had fabricated her story.[78] Sharpton, Maddox, and Mason had accused the Dutchess County prosecutor, Steven Pagones, of racism and of being one of the perpetrators of the alleged abduction and rape. The three were successfully sued for defamation, and were ordered to pay $345,000 in damages, with the jury finding Sharpton liable for making seven defamatory statements about Pagones, Maddox for two, and Mason for one.[79] Sharpton refused to pay his share of the damages; it was later paid by a number of black business leaders including Johnnie Cochran.[36]" Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rev._Al...ey_controversy

They got their money Ike. Like him or not, he is a leader well liked in the black community and is a calming influence here.

Sharpton leaves cold as well for that stuff, I have trouble not seeing him as a sleazy weasel.

Not the point Bob. To this day, Al has never publicly admitted or made a single personal amend to the people he defamed. And confirmed in the item you posted, never paid a penny personally of the damages. He's a real model of integrity and credibility for young black people all across the fruited plain. And now he's a fucking pundit on MSNBC. The day they hired him was the last day I watched MSNBC. Al Sharpton is a hypocrite lecturing anybody about their behavior...I have no use for him and I'm suspect of anything he involves himself in.

There it is, them vs us. No wonder that city has these problems, this makes me think abuse of authority is the norm.

And while I'm on my soapbox, I might as well tell ya that I have no more respect for Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson than I do for Al Sharpton.
