A lot of what I posted in the first paragraph above is from reading "Fascism: A Warning" by Madeleine Albright. She obviously goes into considerably more detail, but this is what I remember most of what she wrote in the early chapters of the book. Direct comparisons with Trump included. It sent a chill up my spine.

The rest of it is my personal rant.

Agreed, but don't let that distract you from the close parallels between the old and new Mussolini.

That's a polite way of saying he's a dictator and a murderous kleptocrat. I suggest you read both of Bill Browder's books about Putin's Russia. It may make you less of a fanboy.

The rise of autocrats and fascist could very well be a direct effect of climate change. Along with the dwindling resources and over population.
The ruling class knowing all to fully the impacts ahead for the world. They are only denying the truth, keeping it in question to quell the masses into a state easier to control.
Getting the positions needed ready and prepared for the days ahead.

What is ironic for me here is that the Trump Fascists declared "My Body, My Choice, My Rights" for choosing not to be inoculated for Covid-19, yet they were inoculated for various other transmittable diseases. Fast forward a couple of years and now they are anti-abortion, even the morning after pill. Whatever happened to the "My Body, My Choice, My Rights" mantra? Well "its different" does not add up since with Covid-19, our goal was to save lives through vaccination and masks, the already born, not the unborn.

My own reasoning is that the death from Covid was disproportionately among the older folks, those benefiting Social Security and Medicare and reducing the number in that group would have benefited the GOP agenda. But fighting the science on climate change is still mind boggling to me, anti-solar? anti EV? If any type of vehicle need to be electrified, its the PU trucks.

There are plenty of instances where GOP legislators have been confronted with "my body, my choice, unless I'm a pregnant woman"...not that it does any good.

Judge Luttig, esteemed conservative judge on Trump's GOP

The institutions of our democracy and law, he says, “are under vicious, unsustainable, and unendurable attack — from within... The former president and his allies betrayed the sacred trust that had been conferred on them by the American people.”

^^From the above thread:

Quote:
The Republican Party has made its decision that the war against America’s Democracy and the Rule of Law it instigated on January 6 will go on, prosecuted to its catastrophic end.
I am personally convinced of this. Trump has given rise to and empowered a bunch of crazies in the GOP controlled House and chances are their numbers will rise after the 2024 election regardless of the presidential elections. And they will not silently go away or change their objectives or tactics.

2024 will be the climax. The election will almost certainly end with two people claiming to have won it. The the matter will be settled by violence.
