Pete's frightening me.

I've called 911 to let them know I'm armed and on my way to Cleveland.

LMAO!! But then you're walking into an extremely safe area Dave, safe because - we don't have guns?

Is the peaceloving left saying that if you think someone's following you you should lose them, then attack them?

I would say, why are you following me? If they answered they were block watch (which thankfully my current neighborhood doesn't need, because we all watch) I would invite them to walk with me.

If I instead started fighting him something would happen, don't know what, but can't think of a good outcome.

Strange I always thought "the hood" was a localism for neighborhood.

Or did you forget the smiley face?

No, you're correct, 'the hood' or 'my hood' is short for neighborhood, but 'a hood' is slang for a thug/punk or wannabe, and it does indeed come from wearing hoodies.

Just another public service post

You are kidding, right Pete? Hood, as in short for HOODLUM.

This thread both amazes and saddens me. A young man is dead. His crime was to walk through the neighbourhood where he was visiting family, in the rain, with hs hood up. (I guess I am lucky to be alive, as I did many walks in the rain with my hood up. Maybe I should call child protective services and turn in my mom, because I sure remember her having me put my hood up on rainy days. I could have been shot!) He was doing nothing criminal. He was just going to the store for skittles. A wanna be cop decides he is a bad guy, even though his only crime is having his hood up in the rain, ignores what the police tell him to do, and goes to accost the young man.

There was no crime committed. And a young man is dead. And so many here are trying to make a criminal out of the victim.

Btw, I'm going to tell him (the hood)

I'm also bowing out of this thread, as gracefully as a bull in a china shop can, until more info becomes available. Cheers!
