There are no left wing militias. Even that new black outfit that was just marching a bunch of guys on Stone Mountain is, i would argue, right wing. Black nationalist right wing.

Trump, faced with a massive election loss that overwhelms all his efforts to legally throw it into doubt, declares it faked anyway and tries, basically , a coup supported by loyal security forces and right wing militias. The militias committ atrocities all over and alienate the populace utterly. The army fights and wins the Battle of Washington and Trump dies in his bunker. then Aemy and national guard have the task of cleaning up the militia trouble all over the country, which they mostly do but, like i said, some hard cases carry on a guerrilla war, hiding, planting bombs, doing ambushes, basically doing trouble for who knows how long.

It's a number of people that voluntarily organize to fight as a group together. In modern times not in general sponsored by a government, or funded by powerful patrons--groups like that are generally styled 'paramilitaries.' Paramilitaries tend to be better organized and armed than militias, which arise as 'grass-roots' organizations. But despite some official or semi-official status, a paramilitary will be much more lightly armed than the regular army, and not trained to battle other armed units. They and militias are actually mainly able to control the civilians in an area of operations, including ad hoc insurrectionists.

Right now in the US there are lots of armed individuals capable of forming armed mobs, a few militias, a very few militias organized and trained to a paramilitary level, and a nascent official paramilitary being formed now from border patrol and other federal security forces.

By and large. You have to get leftist really angry for a long time to get them ready to fight. (Right wingers, in contrast, are born ready. Also, ponder how many right wing pacifists you've ever heard of.) Though Trump and his authoritarian tactics, especially if they lead to an overt authoritarian cancellation of democracy, could get us there eventually. But there is no group of dedicated, pissed-off, left wing ideologues ready to lead a violent revolution at the present. Is there? You hear of any American Bolsheviks?

I fervently hope it doesn't happen. It will be the greatest disaster to afflict this country since the last civil war. Death toll, especially if you count the concurrent pandemic, in millions.
