I realize this wasn't addressed to me but I would state this in another way. I think the sensibilities of anyone or any group about anything must be subservient to our Constitutional protections. The fact that some 9/11 victims and their relatives object to Imam Rauf and his coreligionists giving free expression to their faith in a perfectly legal and Constitutionally valid fashion is really pretty irrelevant.

PS: wasn't it God's anointed Glen Beck who said he had grown to hate the 9/11 widows?

The entire thing is totally disingenuous.
And it stinks too!

How are Murdoch and Fox a threat to America at all?
FYI, I just heard that Murdoch's Newscorp just donated $1 million to the Republican Governors Association. Fair and balanced news journalism, indeed.

"....you have to be very prudent about the fact that they have the consitiutional right to build it anywhere they want. Uh, well, so long as they don't build it here...."
---Karl Rove to Bill O'Reilly.

Is that a typical Republican response, or what? It dovetails nicely with,
"You're free to live the life you choose, so long as it doesn't offend our Christian sensibilities in any way."

If it's 600 feet it's from the corner of the old world trade center complex not the buildings and it is measured diagonally through the blocks not as one must walk.

disingenuous
Precisely.

The whole thing is nothing but a political red herring anyways.
Already they're talking about how the GOP "is going to use this in November." November? Give me a break. They're "using" it now. Have been for months.

And the folks behind Media Matters and Moveon.org donate to the Democrats. It all balances out in the end, eh?

To be clear, I never thought that this was a left versus right issue. I also think that this is a "trap" issue for those who want to consider the issue in purely constututional terms. The government has a duty to intervene when public interests are at stake, as they intervene to control and regulate other freedoms such as the right to assemble and freedom of religion.

To demonstrate, consider the "fix" which appears to be on the table. Is this a matter of protecting he public interest, or is this a further twisting of the consititution, as in the government intervening in matters of faith?

A. I'd be interested in seeing your source for this info. Can you please post it?

B. You ask if this is a "positive thing"? By your question, I'm assuming you suggest it is a negative thing. What would be your solution to address it?
