The question if it's Harris, who's the best veep choice to inspire confidence in competency?

Had not thought of Biden resigning now, but more I think about it, sounds better and better. With Biden out of the picture, he will no longer be a scapegoat. But some Repugnants are asking him to resign also.

But is Kamala Harris electable? That is the million dollar question.
And who will she pick to be her VP?

As Steve noted, JD Vance is a problem in more ways than one. First boosting Trump's candidacy (does not hurt than he is married to a woman of color) and be able to act as a pit bull with no convictions.

Indeed. Forget what the polls say will enough Whites in critical swing states pull the lever for Harris on election day? Some say a White backlash from Obama getting elected helped tRump get into office. If in fact that's the case will it come into play against Harris. One thing's for certain. Racists squawking about J.D.'s wife will be bellyaching about Harris being a Democrat presidential candidate too.

That said, if not Kamala Harris then who and how.

That would give her a running start so to speak. The GOP would have to divide time between bashing Democrats, bashing Harris and bashing a female candidate for president all at the same time. Maybe this bash-fest will cost the Repubs's some support among fence sitters? Whichever direction the Democrats take they better do it quick. The tRumplican party will pounce on any opening they can. Me predicting the future if Harris is selected is attacks saying a DEI hire should not be running for president.

Kamala had some mad press in a section of black media with respect to the prison industrial complex and drugs.

The effect of that is not known. Anyway my Brooklyn friends are telling me that there is no fever for Kamala like what there was for Hillary.

The point of Biden resigning right now has nothing to do with him being a scapegoat or saving face or seeing or not seeing the job through, and the fact that Republicans are saying he should do it doesn't make it de facto wrong.

Rather, the whole idea is for Harris to coast into the convention smoothly as the 47th president, instead of having the whole thing devolve into a brokered mess with multiple challengers -- a scenario that is much more likely if she goes in as a VP with a 37% approval rating.

I do like your idea of Biden resigning now and Kamala becoming #47 which will nicely put a dent in the 45-47 marketing paraphernalia.
