A good guess and that would me mine too. I also think that deep down the cult believes that this 'flu virus' will go away and all will be well, at which time they will claim that they were right all along. The people of faith will ascribe getting over the pandemic to the almighty conveniently forgetting those who succumbed.

Unfortunately we live in a world now that is mostly mismanaged by social media and one really has to work hard at getting the truth.

If they admit now that the positions they put forth were based on lies they risk losing their support. Fear that their people will turn on them for misleading them and they'll lose the support they have. Fear of them that they've worked so hard to radicalize.

the insurance free ride for COVID is now over in many cases, it's back to full deductables and co-pays. Since just about all hospital cases now are unvaccinated, the effect is as you say.
