not mine but, spot on:

I have been a gun owner and hunter for over 35 years. Wayne La Pierre and others like him, who have taken over the NRA, are the reason that I have never been a member of this group. The NRA used to represent the interests of hunters and sportsmen, but the NRA leadership has been taken over by crazy right wing insurrectionists who think that the enemy is our own government. The NRA leadership believes that our government is an unwanted overbearing tyrant from which they must protect themselves with their own armed militias. There is no doubt in my mind that they would be happier yet if they could freely purchase grenade and rocket launchers and a few M1 tanks. Their answer to everything is that we need more guns that will kill more people quicker. They have completely corrupted the American legitimacy of owning guns for hunting, sports and protection. They have become our own home grown group of treasonous terrorists.

Any solution that involves adding more variables designed to create bodily harm into our schools is not a solution.

That's like saying the key to world peace is for everyone to possess nukes.

I guess I was correct when I posted thatit would not make any difference if they broke wind - a good fart would have conveyed more intelligence than Lapierre did.

It's an overdub parody from the internet. So far I've watched it four times and can't stop laughing. Well done.

LaPierre gets a second chance tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to see if he has digested feedback from his Friday performance and mans up a little.

There is an elephant in the room that has been avoided so far. Namely the shooter's dad is a GE exec. They have not talked for years. IMO the shooter wanted to make a mess so big that it showed up on TV and caused problems for his dad. He was trying to communicate.

That's my take so far. Gun laws can't fix that sort of problem. But the NRA can make it worse by being callous.

Ebacon, you are right that gun laws won't address mental illness. However, gun laws, properly enforced, can help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.
