Indeed. Case Western Reserve University isn't exactly your local junior college or public university.

The one I live near is Polk State College.
It's a commuter college that was a two year community college until fairly recently, but it now offers some four year degrees.
Definitely a long way from Pete's Ivy Leaguer.
It's where the Proletarians go.

Reagan fixed SS by (in my case 'cause I remember) tripling FICA withholding to cover you guys (the boomers). Of course being Congress they took the extra money and used it like it was permanent income, being idiots, or am I repeating myself. Now they've got to cover the boomers AND the increased permanent spending they used it for in the first place. Idiots - would be us for letting it happen. That's a bipartisan screwing btw.
Dave it's the time in my case. I save a boatload doing repairs and I wouldn't mind if it wasn't every single flerkin spare moment!
John, are we going to come up with 400k for every person in the US to cover what often appears to be continuing high school?

The old line colleges and universities in Cleveland are hardly hotbeds of conservative thought The wealthy old neighborhoods here are as liberal as, um, something very liberal. Mercedes Marxists?
I realize in some cases parents have bought new modest cars for their kids, fine.

I was in my mid thirties, just in time for my peak earning years, when those FICA taxes went up and my future benefits were trimmed. So Fuck you, I covered myself.

I didn't say you guys were the problem, just the very real reason. I don't have a problem with it at all.

You said you "covered" me.
You can run, but you can't hide.

It was so the program (SS) had enough funds to cover the inevitable time when it would be paying out more than it took in - when the boomers started to retire. Just reality.
I'm not saying I like you guys, don't get the wrong idea. Nowhere near cute enough

Not exactly Pete. The deal was that extra money was supposed to generate surpluses so that the treasury would be in fat city when the boomers retired, yes.
However your boy Ronny screwed that up with his tax cuts of 1985 or was it '86? Then on top of it spent out the ying yang for an arms race with the Rooskies.
Bush the first didn't do any better and the deficit continued to swell.
Clinton got us back on track and by the time he left office we had surpluses and the Bond Traders were getting nervous that we would pay off all those treasuries.
Then along came Bush II and his economic Wrecking ball and we all know the rest.
Its a real pisser when someone comes along like me to blow your bullshit out of the water isn't it Pete?
