Trump aides prep new tariffs on imports worth trillions for ‘Liberation Day’

The announced Liberation Day is the day after April Fool's day except this seems real, an escalation of tariffs on specific goods originating from specific countries. An already complicated Harmonized Tariff Schedule will now become impossible if tariffs are to be imposed by commodity and country of origin.

But the administration feels that,

“Although the final reciprocal tariff plan for April 2 has yet to be unveiled by President Trump, every member of the Trump administration is aligned on finally leveling the playing field for American industries and workers,” spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement. “President Trump has assembled the best and brightest trade team in modern American history to reignite American Greatness, and they are hard at work following the same playbook.”

So its not only the money but also our greatness at stake here.
Of course we all know that this is about finding easy money for the tax cuts and nothing else.

This is truly appalling. She may not be a household name but as an established actress must be a known person to authorities and sounds more like a middle finger to Canada.

ICE detained Canadian 'American Pie' actor Jasmine Mooney for 12 days

The ICE spokesperson sent us the following statement:

Jasmine Mooney was detained March 3 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for not having legal documentation to be in the United States. Mooney was processed in accordance with the "Securing Our Borders" Executive Order dated January 21. All aliens in violation of U.S. immigration law may be subject to arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the U.S., regardless of nationality.

Mooney's case gained widespread attention after she spoke to a reporter with San Diego's KGTV in early March 2025, while she was still in ICE custody. After her interview gained attention on March 12, ICE released her and she returned to Canada on March 15. Mooney spoke to the media when she reentered Canada through Vancouver, and shared her experiences in a Medium article that was partially republished by The Guardian.

Authoritarian followers in ICE strive for extreme diligence in complying with their mandate to detain as many as they can. They interpret extreme diligence as 'not giving a shit about facts.' Some executive are still sensitive to negative publicity, however, so when the media got a hold of this, out she comes.

Turkey jails Istanbul mayor before trial, stoking opposition anger

ISTANBUL, March 23 (Reuters) - A Turkish court on Sunday jailed Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, President Tayyip Erdogan's main political rival, pending trial on corruption charges, in a move likely to inflame the country's biggest protests in more than a decade.
The decision to send Imamoglu to jail comes after the main opposition party, European leaders and tens of thousands of protesters criticised the actions against him as politicised and undemocratic.

As the courtroom developments unfolded, there were signs that the mayor's troubles were galvanizing opposition against Erdogan's government, which has run Turkey for 22 years.

I will say this again, democracy is incompatible with Islam.
Erdogan is no different than Putin, Orban or our very own Felon#47. They all want to be presidents (aka rulers) for life.
