Orban is under the knife not because of any mouthings about Democracy or any closeness to Putin but because he letting the Chinese into Europe.
I feel (note I am not certain) you know this to be true since you have a better knowledge of the world than most here.

China has scared crap out of the western alliance. They have just awaken to the magnitude of that threat.

That is not what MAGA so admires about him. They like his assault on the free press, judiciary, higher education and the electoral system, not to mention his ethnocentrism. They would love to do the same here.
