You could have saved yourself any discomfort by adopting the GOP line, their compatriots people were peaceful visitors there to be part of the vote counting ceremony and the Capitol Police invited them in.

Actually, it's Republicans who don't want to find out. Otherwise, they would have agreed with the bipartisan independent commission that Rep. John Katko (R-NY) helped negotiate and that many in the GOP supported up until having to actually vote on it.

As for it being political, investigating a conspiracy by Trump, GOP politicians, outside lawyers, fake electors and a corrupt DOJ official (all Republicans) to steal an election is inherently political. For that matter, every single thing that has ever happened on Capitol Hill is, by definition, political. Your assertion that politics are happening on Capitol Hill reminds me of the famous quote from Casablanca("I'm shocked, shocked, to find that gambling is going on in here.")
