How do the casualties compare to the Crimea.

The will to fight. If their forces are trained and armed with an eye to the west, the new Red Army is in for a hard fight. Does the new Tsar want Kyiv (the Mother of Rus' Cities) back now, or is this an intermediate step?

In the end he's going to establish the Dnieper as Russia's western border and focus on keeping Chinese real estate ambitions at bay. ymmv

The total number of casualties (both Russian and Ukrainian) from the seizing of Crimea was 6 people. Besides, the Russian people approved of and celebrated the seizing of Crimea. The whole of Ukraine, not so much.

The new Tsar ambitions are too wide. He does not have the manpower. Consolidating the break away Republics should essentially be all.

The large scale invasion of Ukraine is reckless.

I think the casualty level being experienced was probably expected and planned for accordingly. This has just begun I fear.

Leaked document shows Russia is preparing for 'a massive medical emergency' of Ukraine war casualties

Russia's casualties have just about equaled the USA casualties of OIF. Approximately 1,000.

Civilian casualties are significantly lower.

This is a personal impression based on MSM reports.

Time to send sunflower seeds to Putin's troops. Stingers from Germany inbound.

I saw a report of an elderly Ukraine lady confronting a Russian soldier on the street and ended the conversation by saying something to the effect that he should put sunflower seeds in his pockets so sunflowers would grow where he fell and died.

Many historical events where an outnumbered and out gunned force prevailed. Also ones where the victorious force was made to pay a heavy price.
