Ron Johnson, the senator from Wisconsin who has led the Republican campaign in the Senate of making unfounded claims about Joe Biden’s son Hunter, is facing a host of questions about his own ethics, including whether he personally benefited from a change in tax law that he sought in 2017.

A letter sent by Johnson to the Senate ethics committee in May has revealed the senator began the process of selling a company he partly owned in February 2018, just months after he insisted the Trump administration change a portion of the tax law in a way that ultimately benefited the sale.

The issue has become a focus of the Congressional Integrity Project, a Democratic watchdog group that is seeking to expose allegations of corruption within the Republican ranks.

At the center of claims made by the watchdog group are allegations that Johnson may have sought out a change in the Trump administration’s 2017 tax bill to enrich himself personally.

Unfortunately for Trump’s campaign, Joe Biden’s lack of direct involvement in Hunter’s affairs ... have made it far more difficult to make the allegations of corruption stick. Biden’s history of personal loss and the obvious toll that addiction has taken on Hunter have further immunized Biden from attacks by a man many already see as needlessly cruel. This has played right into the Biden campaign’s hands by reinforcing its contention that this election is about character and empathy. A more disciplined candidate and campaign would have considered all of this. But an ineffectual spotlight on Hunter Biden is what you get from a campaign that is informed only by its id.

Lev Parnas demands GOP senator ‘tell the truth’ about Giuliani’s Russian misinformation campaign

Addressing the Wisconsin senator, Parnas said, “the real scandal is how a sitting U.S Senator continues to lie to the American people.”

“It is time for you to tell the truth about when you knew about the Russian misinformation spread by Derkach and Telezhenko through you to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Rudy Giuliani,” Parnas wrote.

Of course this entire “scandal” is Russian disinformation. The senator is well aware of this, but doesn’t care.
