Astonishingly, you even have the brass to affirm that such standard would include an expectation of entertainment on your part. I of course realize that you are actually joshing us on this point, as I'm sure you are in fact vastly entertained by your own acts of creation of your small but elegant prose parcels, and your subsequent auto-appreciation of them. It but remains for me to note in conclusion that false geniality and perfunctory politese are no substitute for sincere honest good will, and only by undergoing an unlikely epiphany of empathy can you hope to win the engagement of others in the sort of respectful and sincere discussion you indicate that you crave.

They'll never figure it out. I see hints of extremism on both sides, but politics is not a conversation to take others opinions personally. I lean conservative and get along with most folk on here. There is an element of entertainment for me as most of the conservative new folk actually think of me as a liberal. I find it amusing the ingrained mindset that the two can't have any kind of reasonable conversation. Then again, my objective is more sociological in nature than to try and change anyone's mindset. People can get downright nasty when their belief systems get challenged.

Second time he's threatened to leave. Hope it sticks this time.

If you want to take my observation as "rude," I couldn't careless; however, most words are said for a reason. If you're wondering why this forum is mostly dead, sincerely consider them. The truth often hurts.
On that note, I think I'll bid this "forum" adieu. It's not me, it's the unwillingness of most of the members here to discuss.

An exchange to ponder, if you're still pondering, from the Tammy Duckworth thread:

My reply above, first of all, is the essence of my problem. I see you as using dishonest, unprincipled argument. And despite your claim not to take personal criticism personally, I can see a criticism like that (and some others I have leveled at you) putting you off feeling like discussing with me. So it may go.
But be that as it may, it was a prompt for you to continue the discussion by showing that your position was principled, after all. You answered not.

I know you have some conservative values and sympathies, mp, but you are a true gentleman. Honest disagreement is fine. I'm afraid I do lose patience with rhetoric that fudges truth and logic in the effort to score debate points, for entertainment or any other motive. Though I'm more than fine with many forms of entertainment. My 'reverse sealion' post above did entertain me; I resemble Mr. Ford in some ways, certainly. Still, every statement in it was sincerely meant.

Good to see you, Marc.
Me? I'd rather be torturing steelhead on the Rogue or killing Yellowtail out in the Catalina channel. Think I'll go spin up some Stephen Stills.

Hiya Bob.
Got the Crooked River a mile east, Deschutes River a mile west, Lake Billy Chinook and Cove Palisades a few miles north. Just got my solar panels installed last month and producing about 60 kWh per day. Wouldn't mind hearing Treetop Flyer myself.
That's my place above the G in Google.

An entertaining velvet gloved pummeling to put FordGT90 in his place. Although he probably doesn't see it quite this way.

It did seem to have a dramatic effect. That suggests it may have been more of a pummeling than I realized. Thought I was just making a point in a fun way. But as you say, perspectives vary....

You and pio both wax poetic from time to time.
I enjoy when you do. It is a refreshing change from some other's posts.
