So, is this the post convention bounce for Trump that will reverse itself, or is it a continuation of the fading poll results for Clinton the accelerated after Comey's report came out? In any case, Hilly needs big bounce out of Cleveland.

Get back to me after Labor Day, Mike. Breathlessly following the polls day by day is a fool's errand.

It's how one discerns trends and, in this case, the trend is against Clinton.

Trump got a predictable 5-6 point bounce from his convention. Hillary will likely also do so. The next meaningful poll will be one a couple weeks after the DNC when the smoke clears and her bump settles.

The way I read it, Trump's numbers went from an RCP average -2.8% before the convention to an RCP average of +1.1% after, a total swing of 3.9%. This, in my opinion, is despite the convention, not because of it. That was as unbounceworthy a convention as we've had since 1968. I think Trump got bupkis out of his convention. His increase is organic and will persist.

It requires some fairly magical thinking to believe that his poll numbers wouldn't have taken a nose dive if he won the nomination and the press started digging into the somewhat salacious tidbits in his history.
However, Bernie did the stand up thing yesterday during the rollcall votes. He proved he is mensch par excellance as far as I'm concerned when he moved for a suspension of the rules and threw all of his delegates to our nominee.
Like it or not, most voters aren't ready for one of us old tie dyed hippie freaks from the Age of Aquarius to be the commander in chief.

Thnx for this, the long form explanation of why I and probably the DNC didn't think him electable.

One of these days I am hoping Ice will tell us why he finds Hillary so admirable and without any human faults that she can command such unshakable loyalty out of him.

At this point he appears to be incapable of it. This could also explain his hostility.

I'm equally mystified by how an avowed atheist such as yourself has deified another atheist.
