The essence is quite obvious to any rational person. She is simply stating historical fact. James Polk called it Manifest Destiny but in actual fact he stole most of the western United States from Mexico at gunpoint. All done under the guise of a "war".
The implication is that 'wrongdoing' at that 'border' is not all one way. It suggest that the 'moral authority' of the border is relative and contingent. And it suggests the essence of 'national identity' is at best amoral happenstance.
And therefore she is not obliged to recognize any authority.
Implying? That she does not recognize the present borders? That she is really a Mexican? She does not recognize the US government?
What is the essence of this statement?

What is the essence of this statement?
It means that ten generations ago her family were citizens in Mexico. Then they were citizens of the Republic of Texas, then they became US citizens when Texas joined the United States. All without changing their residence. The border moved while they stayed in the same place.
