The medicos were predicting something like this would happen. Still no reason for panic, IMO.
They are also predicting there will be many more. Not quite outbreak but isn't that what they said about ISIS too? Is Ebola the JV team virus?

Rumor is there is another case in MA.
I noticed you said ''face shield'' and not sealed respirator with o2 tank so I'm guessing she was still breething same room air. Makes a feller wonder doesn't it?

I dunno but if I had to hazard a guess? I'd say this nurse effed up and didn't follow protocol.

Heres a link Dave. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebola_virus_disease

If it were airborne in Africa it would be spreading a lot faster than it is. Airborne disease like flu have infection rates of 10 or more for each person that has it. Ebola seems to have a rate of a bit under 2.

It will be nasty enough without making up stuff before there is evidence. Hundred or thousands of dead here by the end of the year, and millions in Africa.

4,000 deaths in Africa and a mortality rate of about 80 percent. And if health care workers are getting it (even if they "screw up") even after using protective gear then Bob Dylan's
phrase "You Do Not Need A Weatherman To Know Which Way The Wind Blows" apt here.

DQ I have been x-raying sick patients (even HIV positive ones) for 20 years. I have never been afraid until now.

I'm wondering what the difference in housing and hospitals are between the USA and Africa. Are their houses air tight like ours? I ask this because in the US air is trapped in our homes and we all breeth it. If a house isn't built air tight or have A/C then most likely the windows would be open allowing fresh air, less chance of breething an infected persons air. May sound silly but the un-asked questions could be important as we've not had to deal with Ebola here before now.

That's 4000 'laboratory-confirmed' deaths in Africa. Total real number is guessed to be 2.5 times that.

You'll certainly want to be careful...

The main difference between the US and Africa is thousands of modern hospitals. We'll be able to identify and isolate cases before they infect more than one other. Outbreaks will flare and then die down. Here.
