In honor of Giffords, the effort to drain the rhetorical swamps should be as nonpartisan as she was in her interview. It is wrong, at any point on the spectrum, she said, to "incite people and inflame emotions."

You need to change your avatar picture. Since this is a political forum, it might incite someone who sees it to commit a violent act against a political figure.

I know that was a Jefferson quote. I was responding to your reference to some unnamed and unknown to me broadcaster's comments.

D, it's been a while and my memory isn't as sharp as my delusion thinks it was. Was it perhaps the same guy who cooked his story, resigned in disgrace?

Congresswoman Giffords (D-AZ): It is wrong, at any point on the spectrum, to "incite people and inflame emotions."

Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (R-MN): "And really now in Washington, I’m a foreign correspondent in enemy lines. And I try to keep everyone back here in Minnesota know exactly the nefarious activities that are taking place in Washington...I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us, having a revolution every now and then is a good thing, and the people — we the people — are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country."

Hmmmm.

It's not that I think the Republicans a solely responsible for the discontent.
Because I don't.

But, I have believed the tone and content of their political rhetoric would ultimately lead to tragedy. "Sooner or later", I have been thinking, "some idiot is going to start shooting."

What do we have, Chas?

If one doesn't want to enflame people and incite emotions one should not say a word.

Heck even that wouldn't work, someone would get mad at the silence. Better live ina cave or at least stay out of politics.
