Trump’s shame: ‘It is what it is’
https://www.concordmonitor.com/Trump...it-is-35601384
Quote:
Brownshirts (aka Stormtroopers), instrumental in the Nazi’s rise to power before World War II, were well known for violent bullying, intimidation, and callous killing of Germany’s left-wing intellectuals and Jews.
The attacks they committed, in service to the Nazi regime, on the humanity of people whom they believed less worthy than they, are well-documented – and rejected: “Never Again.”
So rejected that when, in 2017, neo-Nazis marched in Charlottesville chanting “Jews will not replace us” and “Blood and Soil” – when President Donald Trump failed to condemn them claiming there were “very fine people on both sides” – the odious connection to Brownshirts was clear.
Trump’s failure to condemn those neo-Nazis and anti-Semites – at a moment when the nation needed authority and moral clarity – was a seminal moment in his administration.
The failure of Trump’s followers – including a large majority of the nation’s white Christian evangelical community – to condemn him at that moment, was equally seminal, and their ongoing support persists to the shame of this nation.
So supportive are they of Trump’s embrace of anti-Semites, racists, and white supremacists that when his administration unlawfully deployed government forces against peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square, unlawfully deployed unidentified camouflaged forces to kidnap demonstrators and attack moms with tear gas in Portland, his supporters cheered.
Today, his supporters can’t openly run on racist tropes advocating white supremacy. They certainly can’t run on whether Americans are better off, safer, healthier, or happier, than they were four years ago.
...
The bottom line is that all who support Trump today – however they might’ve been seduced into initially supporting him in 2016 – are a new iteration of Brownshirt and are complicit with Trump’s stoking of perceived grievances, complicit with his bullying, intimidation, and racism; complicit with yearning for the preservation of white supremacy.

No apologies to you assholes. You know who you are. Brownshirts, every one.
