I think businesses, especially large ones, have way more power and discretion than they should. I'd favor regulation that would require vetting of many decisions with large public impact, like investment in plant and machinery, closing of plants, Etc. I think our law has been shaped by owners and we think it's good and right that they should have all kinds of Power, but it's not written on stone tablets anywhere we are free to change the order of things if we think it's a good idea.

So no I don't think it's outlandish if there are some limits on business discretion in customer service. If someone makes it clear that they want to discriminate in public accommodations, there should be a way to challenge that. And in fact there is.
