It was a country music festival. I'm pretty sure there were people in the crowd with carry permits and possible packing at the event.
What damn good did it do anybody? Notice that in these shootings, even when there IS a "good citizen with a gun" present when it starts; They run. Why? Because, oftentimes the attackers plan for it. Element of surprise, positioning, cover of darkness, range advantage, superior firepower................ You might as well be carrying a pacifier in that holster. Actually, I'd say that's all it is, anyways.
