Stop the Capitalist Oil War!

Just saw it drawn out for me with a big fat crayon (by a poster elsewhere): the war with Iran will have the effect of driving up oil prices like crazy, for a while, of course, obviously. Iran will hit the Saudi oil terminals, and missles and mines will close the gulf. No oil coming out no how, as long as that thing stays hot, or longer if the Republican Guard is set to go underground and pop up sneaky with anti-ship missles for an extended time. There will be no insurance on supertankers while that shit is going on. So no supertankers in the gulf.

So who will want a war? Exxon will want a war! (Just to mention one oil company, the others too of course.) Happy days again for American oil producers. Frack the environmentalists, full steam ahead. Drill baby drill, in Alaska, offshore, everywhere!

I thought co-president Putin might not want this to happen to his friend and trading-partner Iran, but I'm reminded that Russia is a petroleum-exporting country. They will be ecstatic at high oil prices. They will criticize us, of course, to make it look good. They will curse us all the way to the bank.

I was worried about a war with Iran before, but not any more. Worry is what you you when bad stuff is possible. For me this just moved from possible to dead certain.

The only good thing here is that the economic motive is so friggin' obvious. (Again, don't know how I missed it up to now.) This makes it easy to explain. There may still be time to get the word out and mobilize enough opposition to maybe stop it. Gotta hope.

Lot of innocent people are going to die in Iran, otherwise, so Exxon and Putin can rake it in....

Are you implying that Vlad has some input in engendering this war?

Seems very likely, based on motive and opportunity.

We gonna take their oil too?

Guess our only hope in stopping this from happening, is the opening of the arctic and easing sanctions against Russia.

Seems unlikely in view of the fact that Vlad and Obama were principals in
remove the sanctions on Iran enabling it to bring its oil easily on the world market.

Well, with Obama as President there wasn't much chance of an invasion of Iran. One's positions adapt to changed opportunities.

Not that I see Vlad overtly, publicly, supporting the war. He just won't lift a finger to stop it. But he'll still be Iran's 'friend,' and as I said, curse us all the way to the bank.

Russia under extreme pressure--sanctions and precipitous fall in oil price--sought to bring a significant oil competitor on line.

Neither what the Russians did regarding the nuke deal with Iran, or why they did it, are known to me. I assume they acting is accordance with their interests as they saw them at that time. I don't imagine they acted out of strong feelings of altruism toward Iran, sacrificing their own interest.
