She mentioned a point she said Dan rather made, that what we're doing is like the Roman devolution from virtuous republic to an empire of blood spectacles. I've heard this idea before, but at this time, I find it hitting home.

BTW, while I liked the above point, I don't want to give the impression that Politics Girl is dry and scholarly. The following is more the tone in general:
