I expect Trump and the GOP will rip her apart now on this since it's official. Average person will not know the difference between rules and law. Since the State Department (and I assume she still has high level friends there) has announced this ruling at this late stage in the primary process, is an FBI ruling in the near future? I am afraid this ruling will hand the presidency over to Trump since he is very good at deflection and Hillary is not.

The GOP will be sure to muddy the distinction.

This has been my concern from the very beginning. Hillary was always a pretty "holey" basket to put all your eggs in.

Actually, she broke the State regulations written for the implementation of the Federal Records Act.
From the article:
A federal law requires the preservation of government records, and Clinton has said that since most of her emails were sent to people on the State Department system, she was complying.
But the audit says that "sending emails from a personal account to other employees at their Department accounts is not an appropriate method of preserving any such emails that would constitute a federal record."
It seems to me that breaking State's internal regulations drawn up to comply with the Federal Records Act can indeed be construed as breaking the law. Whether or not she's prosecuted for such a transgression is another issue.

From what I have read about Trump lately, he is very effective in using Twitter for campaign messaging. In fact it is claimed that he forked over the $1 million to veterans on Monday only after a reporter started snooping around using Twitter. I am not familiar with either Facebook or Twitter, but intuitively something tells me that the average social media user is not very much into the details, like the headline reading crowd who seldom look for confirmation.

Sure, by all us non-lawyers, in other words, about 98% of the electorate.

What about the messages she deleted as being personal before handing over her personal email server? How is that going to be dealt with?

When the general election campaign goes into full swing Hillary will no longer be shielded under the protective wing of DWS and the DNC, where everything, and I mean everything, has been rigged in her favor.

Even at this point Bernie has a better chance of becoming president than Hillary does.

Getting the DNC and all entrenched politicians and bureaucrats in the Democratic Party to agree to this is another matter. This will require them to admit that they fucked up in selecting Hillary as their standard bearer.

You're setting the bar way too high. It is not necessary that they admit it or believe it. All they have to say is 'things have changed.'
