I just gave a set away last winter with a-lot of other gear to clear out the spare room to set up a nursery. Mine were AR4x-a's and they were velcro'd on. Didn't think they were going to come off but they did by lifting one corner at a time and not letting them slip back to the velcro when I started on another corner. Not sure if the velcro was factory or someone else put it in there, but didn't see anything else that may have held the grills in place before. AR4x-a may be different than yours though.
