Thinking as Officer Wilson, I want to know how a robbery suspect significantly larger than me, who has just attacked me and is still standing (charging?) within a car length isn't a threat to me or the public at large?

If you have to fire, you fire until the threat is neutralized.

It's the same reason Rodney King kept getting beat. He was immense and wouldn't stay down. Training? Continue until compliance.
