Absolutely Nothing Today In The Washington Post On IRS Hearings

Not one person in real life has come up to me and mentioned the IRS scandal. I have not overheard anyone speak about it at work, etc.

No one cares because it is not important. It was just a botched attempt at enforcing a poorly written IRS rule that was an actual misreading of the Eishenhower era law.

IMO, that's because influencing the IRS is unthinkable. Period. They work in the background, never stop digging and have extraordinary power to obtain information.

I still do not understand what the right wing is hoping to accomplish other than media attention on to themselves. Eventually they should be seen as incompetent but I doubt the public will notice.

They all are fantasizing that Obama was in the Ohio IRS office masterminding the whole thing.

I am not making excuses for IRS. But they are composed of ordinary government workers and I am sure certain groups of people involved in granting 501 tax exempt status including Ms. Lerner, are stonewalling the investigation. Eventually all of the information will come out including deleted emails. In this information age, it is impossible to purge data.

But as Ice mentioned, for ordinary citizens, this is not a scandal that the right wing wants to make this out to be. I am fully convinced that if there is any worong doing, they will eventually be caught and punished.

Rob, I did not mean recovering data from crashed drives. I myself am a victim of this in recent months, both company and personal. Heck, I lost a 1 TB USB drive with FLAC files that I had not mirrored. For all we know, some of the crashes are legitimate.

I specifically meant emails that have gone back and forth and these will be traced eventually if necessary. At this time I am not convinced IRS was targeting just the right wing groups, only that only these were reported from the audit. But calling this a scandal is preposterous.

Plus Obama had nothing to do with it. Lerner may have acted wrongly, but it was an adminstrative mess up, not some conspiracy reaching back to the President.

It is like if I did not like you Don and found out you had traffic ticket back in 2011. So if I could not find any other dirt on you I just decided to post on the internet the sordid details of your ticket and demanded an investigation and your resignation from PC.

At one point it was reported that they were investigating all groups. Regardless those 501 groups should stay to hell out of politics, they are alleged to be charitable groups. If you believe that we are having a special on the Bay Bridge all week.
