With all this talk about oil prices going up due to instability in the Middle East, shouldn't we be doubling or tripling down on alternate energy like wind and solar?

Seems like a no brainer to me but what do I know? I'm just an old broken down construction puke who's spent some time out in the hot sun and the wind.

It's more expensive to double down on wind and solar than it is to start harvesting our own sources of conventional energy. We can continue to build windmills and solar panels as a national hobby, but what we really need is more domestic natural gas and hydro generating facilities.

Maybe you can get some of your California long hair friends to start making a case for hemp oil.

WTF is stopping anybody from going solar. Buy the gear and install it...no big deal.
I went solar for my well without the government helping me.

It's not that expensive, buy a system. If you wait for the government to do it, you will end up paying to support the grid anyway. They are already pulling that crap here. Be green & become free from the grid and all the B.S.

Why does someone else have to buy you a system anyway? Buy your own & own it.

Michigan's appreciable cloud cover in the cold weather months precludes wide spread use of solar around here.

How does Germany do it? Aren't they at the same latitude, for the most part?

What's up with the angry face Mike?

How is it that the Germans are doing it so well and we can't? If you hadn't notice Obama has been a big booster of fracking and natural gas production. Sorry to tell you but oil from ANWAR is dead and so is coal to a large extent.
Pray tell, what hydro are you talking about? On the St. Lawrence?

The sooner we grow up and realize that oil is finite, running out and ruining the climate. The better off we will be.

It's your heroes in Kansas, the Koch's and their pet trolls over at Heritage/ALEC who are actively trying to screw alternative energy strategies in this country. Hmmm, cause it's in their narrow interests? Ya think?
