Chattanooga a way to improve internet speed

In Chattanooga the internet is ran by the municipality. The result is internet speed which is the envy of most municipalities.

This could be the way for many small cities.

OH, NO YOU DON'T! THAT'S OBAMANISM, this government run internet crapola! All True Patriots should descend on Chattanooga and rip the wiry Marxist demon with it servers and it blinking commie lights right out of it's heart! No sir! Here in America, rugged individuals build their own private internets just as the founders did at Monticello and Valley Forge. (Cue up a chorus of angels singing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and wave the flag around screaming "FREEDOM! FREEDOM!".)

Well, of course information access is a privilege like basic health care and not a right. Ein Rant must be spinning in her crypt as we speak.

I find all of this so amusing, the average Internat connection over broadband, fiber, or cable is much faster that any server you are likely to log onto. Even with today's best processors the server is going to attempt to serve all users equally. Of course I have only had 50 years in computers and communications so what do I know.

Wrong song for Chattanooga, but you've got the program down in general....

So the HR people would have you believe Tom but in truth there is very little new under the sun. I was in the international standards writing business for over 18 years and it was my so called 'contributions to the discipline' that got the IEEE to offer senior membership to this old school dropout, but I settled for simple full membership. Just came across my COMSOC lapel pin the other day.

Big argument between the IETF and ITU-T was the former wanted a dumb network with all the smarts in the terminal and the latter wanted all the smarts in the network. Now guess which group consisted mainly of terminal vendors and which mainly of network operators.
