I had one a while back. Liked it. I considered one before I bought the truck but USA and all that.

I believe he's serious about it.

Got the S-10 running way better! Almost 99% sure it was the IAC. The one on there was new, but had a stupid fine wire spring with 3-4 coils and the plug was stamped tin. The replacement has a copper or brass machined plug and real spring.

These take ATF in the 5 speed tranny, changed it, there was gear oil in it. Tranny is incredibly better. Hope the Chevy likes Mercon V

I also will always have the cat converter part number handy, I burned it into my forearm. Convenience rules the day.

Went with my nephew yesterday to get his first car, a 91 Supra with the non turbo I6 and a 5 speed, 114k, very clean rust wise.

I passed it mechanically but told him not to kill himself. It's pretty fun to drive and a RWD to boot

So you don't see the tree that kills you. In other news, the throwout bearing on the S-10 is going bad, squeaking, and it lost power weirdly on the freeway the other day, a short or maybe intermittent fuel pump issue? Fun. I might have found a set of studded snows on S-10 rims for it for $40 obo.

Hopefully the fuel pump. It's easier to find than an intermittent short.

Yeah for sure. I have my doubts though. There's a receipt for a new one a couple years ago, and twice it's suddenly cut out in 1st pulling away from a stop. An old timer told me to check the power wire going to the coil.

I was planning on installing a new dist anyway, the pickup coil goes bad with time, but between that new suspension clutch exhaust etc I'm getting a little bummed. It would be nice to NOT work on a darned car occasionally, and I was hoping to spend a little time with my nephew on his.

Have you changed the fuel filter? Might also check the ground wires, especially if they're connected to the thermostat housing.

Fuel filter changed, most sensors (not many on a 91 truck), bunch of stuff. Main wires look great, harness looks good overall.

Well my nephew bought his first car! A 91 Supra. 114k, non turbo 3.0 straight six 5 speed, unbelievably clean rust wise. Mech checked it out A-OK but for a rattle in the rear - strut. Good kid

My dad and I chipped in and parts on the way. These hate overheating even worse than most so new belts hoses idler tstat etc, but a 60k mile timing belt change interval so new timing belt kit gaskets seals etc, water pump's right there so new water pump, new rear struts and new hood and hatch shocks. Coupla other things were dirt cheap so dist cap and rotor (wires are obviously new) oil sender, fuel filter.

Hard to believe you can buy all that for less than $275 del'd. Rock rules.

These have a known head gasket issue so we'll have the pleasure of re-torqueing the head bolts, fun and free. Prolly change the valve cover gaskets while we're at it

If it would've been turbo I would've advised 'mom' against it. Even still it's pretty quick!
